Really Quick Reflections on Law School
A few thoughts as I am in the midst of the midterm storm.
1. Law school is one of the few activities in my life that can take up all the time I am willing to give it. There is always something else that I can be reading, reviewing, writing, outlining, etc. Because of this, a rampant paranoia seems to ripple through me and my classmates. "How much did you read?" "How long did that take you?" "How many pages is your outline?" Thankfully, I've got my wife and family. They helps remind me there are other things out there that are important. Thankfully, I've got my friends. Getting those sporadic memes or photos of their latest vacation keep me smiling and remind me how much fun there is in life. I can think of many other things I am grateful for too, but alas I'll save them for another time.
2. Law school isn't so much about learning law as it is to learn how to think like a lawyer. I'm feeling like my arguing is getting better. My writing is certainly improving.
3. Raging debates about whether to "do law school" on a laptop of by hand. In class, I take notes by hand. I also elected to take my exams by hand as well. I'm not sure there is an advantage to one over another, but I feel like when I take my notes, I'm almost creating an illustration of the material. During my exam, I can visualize where on the page I wrote something about a particular topic. The bottom line is to be comfortable with your learning method and be aware of the decisions you make that can potentially affect how much or how little you get out of any learning experience.

4. You Tube is great. It's better than cable. Here is a movie that can be watched as a metaphor for law school. I'm seated, the balloon is law school
5. An example of excellent writing and reasoning
